Tyler Perry Studios and BET Network announced on Tuesday a new comedy series, ”Assisted Living,” and the revival of hit series, ”House of Payne,” will air on the channel.
The original series, ”House of Payne,” aired six seasons on TBS from 2006 to 2012. The show ran over 250 episodes before continuing with the spin-off series, ”The Payne’s” on Oprah’s OWN Network.
The revival continues the saga of Curtis Payne, (played by LaVan Davis) and his wife, Ella’s (Cassi Davis Patton) daily routine navigating life’s problems in the midst of keeping up with their wacky family drama.
Other than Patton and Davis, original cast members include Lance Gross, Demetria McKinney, China Anne McClain, Larramie “Doc” Shaw, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Allen Payne, who are all due to make comeback appearances in the series.
The show will be picking up its ninth season, five years later.
As for the new series “Assisted Living,” it is set to include stars and super comedians such as David & Tamela Mann, J.
Anthony Brown, Na’im Lynn, Courtney Nichole, Tayler Buck, and Alex Henderson.
The new series takes off, as Jeremy (Na’im Lynn) at the head of young family with teenagers, becomes jobless and makes plans to move to Georgia to help his eccentric grandfather out of a bad real estate deal he got himself into with a rickety, old run-down old-folks home, ending up way over his head.
Comedy is brought to the show when Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Cora (Tamela Mann) coincidentally come through as needy investors.
Production for both shows is ongoing, and they are scheduled to air on BET, summer 2020.
